Each mark is a scheduled review; the gaps widen while there is time and tighten as the date closes in, because a review placed after the paper is worth nothing. None of these numbers are ours.

There is no Gyaata retention rate on this page, no hours-saved figure and no topper testimonial, because we have no data that would support one. What follows is published by the bodies that run these exams, and each figure names its source underneath it so you can go and check.

Bring the material you already study

NCERT, coaching handouts, reference books, your own typed notes. Gyaata reads the PDF and generates flashcards and exam-pattern questions from it. Reword anything that is not phrased the way you would say it.

Tell it when you sit the paper

Which exam, which date, which attempt. From that point the schedule is planned inside the window: nothing is placed after the exam date, and anything that would have landed later gets pulled forward.

What this page will not tell you.

  • We publish no retention rate, no score improvement and no hours-saved figure. There is no dataset behind those numbers, here or anywhere else in this market.

  • The per-card memory model (FSRS) has been running in production since August 2026, underneath the exam-date window; before that every card climbed the same fixed ladder of intervals. We are not attaching a number to what that changed, because we have not measured one on our own users.

  • Speed Mode will not show you a percentile until enough drills have been completed, by enough different people, to work one out honestly. Until then it tells you that, rather than showing you a number it cannot stand behind.

  • Every figure on this page belongs to the exam, and names its source underneath it.

The essay

Why you forget

Hermann Ebbinghaus published the first map of forgetting in 1885, from experiments he ran on himself in 1879–80 and 1883–84. He memorised lists of invented nonsense syllables and measured how much time he saved relearning them later — savings, not recall. One participant, and material chosen precisely because it meant nothing. Murre and Dros reproduced the curve in 2015 and the shape holds; the percentages people quote off it were never a statement about your Polity notes. That distinction is what this product is built around, so we wrote the long version down.
